Welcome to ZecWeekly
Hey everyone, shorter newsletter this week. I was at a couple of events so haven’t been plugged into Twitter as much. Have a great weekend! -Ian
This week’s educational piece
This week, ZecHub contributor Dismad published a document on the role block explorers play in the crypto space. In the doc, it mentions that Zcash’s block explorer stands out, especially when a transaction is z-z.
This simple visualization of a shielded transaction speaks volume of the Zcash technology. Shielded Zcash transactions don’t leak user transaction data, such as the amounts of specific transactions, value held in Zcash wallets, and who is a part of a transaction.
The only information you can learn about another user is the information that they consent to share with you! The block explorers visualize this perfectly, and show that this isn’t the case with other blockchains such as Ethereum and Bitcoin.
This document is a great refresher on block explorers. Check it out!
