Hello, Zeeps!
We’re counting down the days to the next Z|ECC Summit, taking place on July 8–9 in Prague, where 10 organizations will come together to help shape Zcash’s future.
We’ll be sharing updates across our channels, so stay tuned!
Onward! 🚀
Last week, we received updates from the latest ZCG meeting regarding the grants and proposals discussed on June 23, 2025.
Attenders: Artkor (not present, voted async), Brian, GGuy, Jason, Zerodartz & Alex (FPF Resource Notetaker).
1) Ledger Live Integration ✖️
Zondax requested $95K to integrate transparent Zcash transactions with Ledger Live, with shielded support planned later. Since ZCG is now working directly with Ledger, the grant was rejected.
2) ZSAs in NU7 (H2 2025) ✔️
QEDIT requested $708K to complete ZSA integration for NU7, focusing on protocol alignment, tooling, and coordination with ECC. Following a clarifying call with stakeholders, the grant, with monthly invoice caps, was approved.
3) Block Explorer & Test Infrastructure (2025) ✔️
A $8.4K grant was approved to maintain a Zcash block explorer (mainnet/testnet) from May 2024 - April 2025, using Zebra and Kubernetes. The grantee will close the prior grant and fold future support into a 2025–2026 request.
4) Centi and ZSAs ❓
Centi Ltd requested $350K to integrate ZEC and ZSAs into its compliant payment platform (25K+ users, 500+ merchants), including a CHF-pegged ZSA stablecoin. While the proposal shows potential, ZCG members raised concerns about user demand, timing (ZSAs not yet live), low liquidity, and Centi’s BSV ties. The grant remains open for comment as members prefer to wait for more proposals.
4) Privacy Executive Roundable ❓
Iron Fish Foundation requested $51K for a 6-month Privacy-X pilot to promote ZSAs via executive roundtables with fintech leaders. It includes live demos, public briefs, and PoC micro-grants. ZCG sees potential but raised concerns about event quality and participation. The grant remains open pending more info on the first event.
5) Myaza: Spend Crypto Across Africa ❓
Myaza seeks $101.3K to integrate ZEC into its multi-currency wallet serving Africa, with features like USD virtual cards, bill pay, and stablecoin swaps. With 7K users already, the goal is to reach 100K across Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. Proposal is under review; ZCG will give feedback at the next meeting.

Zenith 0.10.0.0-beta has been released by Vergara Tech, introducing key upgrades that enhance wallet recovery, sync performance, and user experience.
Highlights include 💫
2× faster sync times and batch syncing for users with outdated wallets, even after NU5’s spam activity.
Efficient resource usage: the new scanning mechanism uses Haskell’s data streaming, reducing memory and storage demands.
Robust wallet recovery from seed phrases, even with years of history.
Spam filtering and improved resilience during sync interruptions.
Migration to Nix flakes: simplifies setup, removes toolchain conflicts, and enables a smooth “run out of the box” experience for users.
Updated Unified Addresses: now include only shielded receivers by default, protecting user privacy.
This update marks a major step forward for Zcash wallet infrastructure built in Haskell, continuing Zenith’s mission to deliver secure, private, and user-friendly tools for the ecosystem.
Despite the rush to prepare for the Z|ECC Summit, Zcash development doesn’t stop. (Pacu will be there too! 😊)
Another week, another update! Check out the progress made on Z3 this past week.
🧩 Outreach & Ecosystem Tools
The Outreach phase is currently paused, but with development artifacts and containers nearly ready, the next phase of engagement is on the horizon.
🦓 Zebra (by ZF)
The Zebra team is transitioning leadership smoothly during Pili’s sabbatical, now led by Natalie. Key highlights:
New updates to gettransaction and getblock support block explorers better.
A new method to track mempool changes was added.
Major cleanup of the codebase and a new release of zcash_script now compares Rust and C++ behavior side by side. Once validated, the Rust version will replace the C++ implementation.
🟢 Zaino (ZingoLabs)
The Zaino team is actively working with ECC and ZF to finalize APIs for Z3 integration and block explorer support. They are also improving data storage through versioning, making Zaino more future-proof. Some PRs still need reviewing — shoutout to Kris Nuttycombe for stepping in!
💻 Zallet Full Node Wallet
Though delayed by about two months, Zallet is quickly catching up. New config support is being added, and PCZTs are now integrated into zcash_script. A new core engineer is joining ECC, which should help speed things up. Zallet will soon enter alpha, testers and developers are invited to contribute and experiment
🌐 Block Explorer Support
Grantee @cacho successfully got the Zcash Block Explorer working, now entering testnet testing. Mainnet integration will follow. Other related PRs are under review, including cookie handling and Regtest support.
Zcash development continues to advance across multiple fronts, with strong collaboration between ECC, ZF, and community contributors.
